Gynecomastia is a medical condition commonly known as female like breast is defined as breast enlargement due to breast tissue and excess fat deposition which is very common in the age group varying from 20 -35 years. Frequently the chest area can enlarge with weight gain which most commonly is due to simple lifestyle changes or it can also be affected by the amount of breast tissue combined with fat. If the excess fat and or breast tissue is located outside the muscle wall of the chest and can be removed easily by liposuction without any risks or side effect but if a large amount of tissue is to be removed, a small excision is required.

What is the procedure?
Firstly anesthesia is administered and tumescent solution is infiltrated in the entire area through the small incision made around the areola region. Then with the VASER probe the tough fat and fibrous tissues is broken down by ultrasonic cavitations effect for proper contouring chest area, then the special liposuction cannula is used in controlled motions which loosen the excess fat, which is then removed from the body by a suction machine. Suction is stopped when aspiration shows no fat coming out from the desired area. Most of the time there won’t be any loosening of skin after the VASER liposuction has been done as most of the skin retraction occurs with vaser.
Post op care
- The prescribed sized compression garments over the chest is to be wear immediately after the procedure for at least 6 months.
- It is normal for the area to be swollen and bruised for one to two weeks following surgery. Swelling will subsidize within 2 weeks.
- It is normal for the area treated by liposuction to feel slightly numb for a period of time, with full sensation slowly returning after a few weeks to months.
- Any discomfort or pain following chest liposuction is generally not severe, although pain / discomfort vary from patient to patient. Most patients complain of stiffness and muscle ache similar to having worked hard at the gym which are relieved by commonly pain killers
The enlarged breast will appear flat immediately after the procedure .as the bruising and swelling subsides over a period of time so result continue to improve over a period of time. Final results when deeper swelling disappear will be after 3 to 4 weeks
